Public Speaking

Public Speaking is not for the faint-hearted and the school’s Internal Public Speaking Competition held on 21 February, proved exactly that! The adjudicators once again complemented the orators on their courage, finesse and excellent English!

The competition was extremely tough and the following orators excelled as grade winners:

Grade 8 :   Katinka van Zyl

Grade 9 :   Agatha van Deventer

Grade 10 : Anrich van Stryp

Grade 11 : Imke Lewington

Grade 12 : Luhard Jansen van Vuuren

The best junior speaker for the Internal Competition was Agatha van Deventer in grade 9 and the trophy for the best senior speaker went to Luhard Jansen van Vuuren in grade 12.

The Van Huyssteens Oratorical Festival will take place on 17 April. This year the competition will be extremely exciting, because it will be for UNPREPARED SPEECHES AND TEAMS ONLY. No more will you be spending long and weary hours alone in the sanctity of your bedroom. Just imagine yourself being surrounded by your team members and all the books, newspapers, iPads, Blackberries and Laptops you can handle!! Exhilarating stuff!!
